STRIDE’s Environmental Behaviour Change Course (5.5 hours of CPD)

Learn how to plan, implement and evaluate your own behaviour change programme. Following a face to face workshop led by a Chartered Psychologist, you will carry out practical tasks in your own organisation helping you formulate your own bespoke behaviour change strategy. The course includes an online workbook, face-to- face workshop and a post course assessment.

By the end of the workshop, delegates will have the knowledge and skills to:

  • Select the target audience and behaviours for their behaviour change programme.
  • Use data from multiple sources to identify key barriers and existing drivers for environmental behaviour within their organisation.
  • Describe the key principles of goal setting theory and use this to develop their own goals and targets.
  • Discuss key behaviour change strategies for reaching goals.
  • Use psychological principles to guide the process of changing people’s behaviour.
  • Pilot behaviour change initiatives before introducing broader scale implementation.
  • Monitor progress towards goals and use effective communication channels to feedback results.
  • Communicate the need for change to multiple stakeholders.
  • Identify key people within their organisation to help make their programme a success.
  • Write a business case.

Audience:

This workshop is for energy managers and/or sustainability professionals, from those just entering the profession to those holding senior positions. This course has been designed for company representatives working in public or private sector organisations.

Facilitators:

Dr Phillipa Coan BSc MSc PhD C.Psychol is an award winning Chartered Psychologist with a PhD in how to change employee behaviour to be more environmentally sustainable. In 2015 she set up STRIDE, a consultancy that combines best practice psychology with the more technical, data-driven aspects of energy management and broader environmental aspects of corporate responsibility. Phillipa has worked across sectors and industries including oil and gas, manufacturing, retail, engineering, healthcare, higher education and financial services.

Eur Ing John Mulholland BScTech (Hons) CEng CSci MIChemE MEI has run energy awareness programmes and training initiatives in 12 countries in the last 30 years for large and medium-sized organizations across every sector. He is a Chartered Engineer, ESOS Lead Assessor and ISO 50001 trained Lead Auditor with extensive experience in energy management.
